We will visit the ancient city of Dion, the sacred place dedicated to Zeus (Dias), at the foothills of the mythical Mount Olympus. We will walk back in history in the Archeological Park, admiring the unique statues, temples, sanctuaries (e.g., of Zeus Hypsistos, of Asclepios, of Isis, etc.), that are left in their original place, giving us the opportunity to walk through the same paths as the ancient Greeks used to do. Then, we will visit the Dion Archeological Museum with many statues and findings of the ancient city, including the ancient “hydravlis” (an instrument of the 1st century B.C., which in the medieval years evolved into the ecclesiastical organ of the Western Church) and the Dionysus mosaic, the largest preserved mosaic found in the excavations in Dion in the “Villa of Dionysus” (a complex of buildings dating back to the 2nd century with courtyards and atrium gardens).

Guided tour to the archeological site of Ancient Stageira and to Artistotle's Park in Stageira village. Thessaloniki - Stageira: 107 km.
Ancient Stageira is the birthplace of Aristotle, the greatest philosopher of ancient times and tutor of Alexander the Great. The city was founded in ca. 655 B.C. by colonists from the island of Andros. Down to the Persian Wars, Stageira was a free, independent, and prosperous city.
The unique Aristotle's Park is in the historical village of Stagirα. It is worth visiting for its interesting instruments and the great view to the Gulf of Ierissos. The wonderful location was chosen in 1956 to host the statue of the ancient philosopher Aristotle. There are experimental instruments, operating by rules of physics, that are mentioned in Aristotle’s textbooks and especially in the one called “The Physics” (lectures on Nature). The park is a favorite destination for visitors, since it combines recreation, entertainment, and education.
